E.H. Roth: One of the most famous names in German violins from the early part of the 20th century until today. There are still violins made under this name by his descendants today. He worked in Markneukirchen until after World War II when he moved to Bubenreuth, Germany. He died in 1948. The earlier violins made entirely by him from beginning to end are generally considered to be the best. In the present time there are various grades of his instruments ranging from the student level to very impressive. This violin is in the top third of the postwar grades.
